Jewish Free Loan Toronto respects the privacy of its donors, loan applicants, recipients, and other members of the community.

We are committed to treating your personal information with respect. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title, business address, or business telephone number of an employee of an organization. Personal information that is “anonymized” by removing the identity of the individual from the information (for example, for use as statistical information) is not considered personal information.

We collect personal information in order to

  • provide you with information that you request
  • provide you with information about upcoming events and add you to our mailing lists
  • comply with legal requirements and our internal risk management and related policies
  • provide us with statistics regarding our activities. These statistics do not contain any information that identifies you personally.
  • provide us with tax receipts
  • determine your eligibility for a loan or to guarantee a loan.

We collect and use Loan Recipient and Guarantor Information in order to maintain records of eligibility and repayment and to enforce repayment where necessary. Where a loan has one or more borrowers and/or one or more guarantors, we may disclose the personal information of borrowers to other borrowers and guarantors, or vice versa, and may collect updated personal information about you from co-borrowers and/or guarantors. We may disclose your information to your spouse or to any credit bureaus, credit reporting agencies, financial institutions, employer(s), and other references you have provided to you to confirm your financial situation; to anyone we retain to administer or provide the loan you have been granted or have guaranteed; to anyone involved in the financing, or facilitation of the financing, of the loan; to other persons as necessary to enforce of the loan or guarantee. We also use loan recipient and guarantor contact information for our mailing lists.

Keeping us Updated

You may withdraw your consent to our use or disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you wish to withdraw your consent we will inform you of the implications.
We are committed to maintaining the accuracy of your personal information. We encourage you to notify us of inaccuracies or corrections.

Disclosure of Your Personal Information

We will only use and disclose your personal information to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as otherwise identified in this Privacy Statement. Other uses of your personal information will only be undertaken after we have obtained your additional consent, or as may be required by law. Your personal information will not be sold to any organization for any purpose.
